About the Series
Jason logs into a full-dive VRMMO governed by a powerful AI that personalizes each player’s experience. The AI pushes Jason toward a necromancer class — the game’s villain archetype. Rather than fighting against this assignment, Jason embraces it: raising undead armies, conquering cities, and building a dark empire while the game’s “heroes” try to stop him. The meta-layer (the AI has its own agenda, and the real world has corporate intrigue around the game) adds depth beyond the in-game action.
The villain-protagonist angle and the sentient AI managing the game create two hooks that work in tandem. Jason’s necromancer progression (from raising basic skeletons to commanding undead armies) is satisfying on the pure LitRPG level. The AI plotline raises questions about consciousness and control that elevate the story beyond standard VRMMO fare. The game-world city management gives a base-building layer.
This works for readers who enjoy villain-class protagonists and want VRMMO LitRPG with a meta-narrative about AI consciousness. The necromancer progression is distinct from the standard warrior/mage paths. The tradeoff: the dual-storyline structure (in-game and real-world) can feel disjointed. Some readers strongly prefer the game sequences and find the real-world chapters slow. The series has expanded with side-story books featuring other characters, which fragmented the main narrative. If you want a focused, linear progression story, the expanding universe structure may scatter your attention.
